EAST
WOODHAY PARISH COUNCIL
HELD ON
TUESDAY 2nd JULY 2002
A new member has joined the
Parish Council, which means we now have our full quota of 10 Councillors.
The Council has written to
both the Area Surveyor and the County Councillor detailing proposals for
improving the grassed area opposite Mason’s Court, to include the
possible provision of car parking spaces.
The response received from the area Surveyor states that, at present,
finances are limited and works are generally prioritised on the grounds of
safety and transport integration.
However, the Parish Council feels strongly that there is a significant
safety issue here as the nearby Stores and Post Office attracts not only the
local community but also those living further afield, many of whom travel by
car. The Parish Council will
therefore continue to pursue the matter.
The 13 sites which were
identified for consideration under the Local Plan have been considered by the
Borough Council, with only one of
those sites – Harwood Paddock – being taken forward to the next
stage. This site has been
chosen due to its proximity to local facilities such as shops, schools, doctors
and public transport.
Further consultation stages will take place in due course.
Minor remedial work will be
carried out on the Skateboard Ramp while the report following ROSPA’s
recent inspection is awaited.
A Litter Collection schedule
has been agreed between the Parish Council and Basingstoke and Deane. The Council will monitor the situation
to ensure this is being adhered to.
On several mornings recently
the large Eurobin at Woolton Hill Recreation Ground has been found on top of
the Skateboard Ramp.
Concern has been expressed
about flooding at Woolton Hill Recreation Ground Car Park, which then flows
onto the tennis court and will, in time, damage the surface. Work to remedy this
situation should be carried out soon, with quotations being received at
present.
Repairs on the C5 main road
through Woolton Hill and on Church Road have now been completed, as has
patching at Hollington Corner.
Unevenness on the C5 due to manhole covers being at a lower level than
the road surface is a problem, and will be looked into. The suggestion of a dropped
kerb opposite the Infant School in Woolton Hill was welcomed and will be put to
the Area Surveyor.
The 2000/01 accounts have
been signed off by the District Auditor.
A request has been received from Basingstoke Play Council for a donation
towards a Playscheme then hold annually in East Woodhay Village Hall in the
summer. The Council agreed to
donate £50 to this event.
Parish Appraisal
Questionnaires will be distributed to all households in the Parish soon.
The Senior Citizens Event
will take place on 12th October, and will comprise a party in East
Woodhay Village Hall with a Victorian theme. Entertainment will be based on Music Hall and a Victorian
Tea will be served.
It is intended that next year’s event will take the form of an
outing.
